Medical Nutrition Therapy: Clear Answers for a Changing Body
If you’ve ever found yourself asking:
- What should I eat?
- Which foods should I avoid?
- Could my diet be causing my symptoms?
- Are the supplements I’m taking actually helping—or just expensive?
- Which supplements do I need, at what dose, and for how long?
You’re not alone. These are among the most common—and most important—questions I hear in my practice. Here’s the honest truth: the answers change over time.
Your body evolves with age, stress, illness, recovery, hormones, and even the seasons. What supported your health last year—or last month—may not be what your body needs now. My role is to understand you in your current state and help you restore physiological balance through nutrition that fits where you are today. Medical nutrition therapy (MNT) is a nutrition-based treatment for many temporary and long-term health conditions.
This Is Not a Meal-Plan Practice—and That’s Intentional
I offer clear, practical guidance on what and how to eat to support healing. I do not create rigid daily meal plans.
If you’re looking for:
- A prescribed menu for every meal
- Optimization when you already feel great
- One-size-fits-all nutrition advice
I’m likely not the right practitioner for you—and that’s okay.
Where I excel is helping people who don’t feel well and want to understand why.
Who Medical Nutrition Therapy Is For
I work with people struggling with symptoms such as:
- IBS and other digestive issues
- GERD and chronic reflux
- Anxiety and insomnia
- Sexual and reproductive health concerns
- Chronic, overlapping symptoms that don’t fit neatly into one diagnosis
Our medical system often treats symptoms in isolation, yet many seemingly unrelated issues—such as IBS, GERD, and anxiety—can stem from the same underlying imbalance. When we address the root cause, multiple symptoms often improve together.
I often describe symptoms as dashboard warning lights in a car. They’re not the problem—they’re a signal. Addressing the cause early prevents bigger issues down the road.
I am also a doctor of Chinese medicine, so I almost always use acupuncture alongside nutrition because I see its effectiveness every day. It can help regulate the nervous system, support digestion, and accelerate healing.
What to Expect at Your Initial Visit
Your first visit is thorough and collaborative. We’ll take the time to understand your health story in depth, including:
- A detailed health and dietary history
- Review of current and past lab work
- Chinese Medicine diagnosis
- Thoughtful discussion to connect the dots
This comprehensive approach helps identify physiological imbalances and determine which nutritional strategies will serve you best. There is no single “right” diet for everyone.
Some people thrive as vegetarians. Others need animal protein. Many do well with a Mediterranean-style approach. Life stages matter too—pregnancy, breastfeeding, and recovery all require different nutritional support.
You’ll leave with clear, individualized recommendations, which may include:
- Dietary guidance
- Supplements or herbs (when appropriate)
- Lifestyle adjustments
Follow-up frequency varies based on your needs—from every other week to every couple of months. If acupuncture is part of your care, we typically begin with weekly visits for several weeks. The goal is simple: measurable improvement in how you feel. I want to see noticable improvements in your health quickly.
Experience Matters
As a Functional Nutritionist and Doctor of Chinese Medicine, I focus on accurate diagnosis—not guesswork.
I use traditional Chinese Medicine assessment tools such as:
- Abdominal palpation
- Tongue diagnosis
- Pulse diagnosis
For labs, I prioritize:
- Reviewing tests you’ve already completed with other providers
- Ordering affordable labs through Quest when needed
- Using specialty labs sparingly and only when truly necessary
My goal is to get you answers without unnecessary expense.

Please bring:
- All lab testing that you have in your possession (blood, urine, stool, saliva, skin testing, etc.)

This information allows us to make the most of your time and create a plan that truly fits you.
Am I the Right Nutritionist for You?
This is for you if you:
- Have ongoing symptoms like digestive issues, reflux, anxiety, fatigue, or hormonal concerns
- Feel stuck despite “doing all the right things” with diet or supplements
- Want to understand the root cause of your symptoms, not just manage them
- Are open to individualized guidance rather than rigid rules
- Want clear answers about which foods and supplements actually support your health right now
This may not be the right fit if you:
- Are looking for a daily or weekly meal plan
- Want quick fixes without addressing underlying imbalances
- Are already in excellent health and only seeking performance optimization
- Prefer one-size-fits-all nutrition advice or trend-based diets
If you see yourself in the first list, Medical Nutrition Therapy may be an important next step in your healing process.
